BACKGROUND & FAMILY

Ellis Baltz grew up on a small farm just north of Nashville, TN where he learned the importance of hard work, diligence, and discipline. He attended high school at Pope John Paul II Highschool in Hendersonville, TN during which time he played varsity football and participated in mock trial, through which he met experienced attorneys who encouraged him to pursue his developing interest in law.

After high school, Ellis attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he received his B.A. in History. He was then admitted to the University of Tennessee School of Law. During law school, Ellis was selected to the Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Legal Clinic where he represented clients in matters ranging from criminal defense to landlord tenant issues. Ellis was awarded the Distinguished Student Attorney Award for his efforts. He was then accepted as an intern student attorney at the Knox County District Attorney’s office and assigned to the DUI trial unit where he tried his first jury trial and gained valuable experience in the criminal justice system. His experience at the District Attorney’s office gave him important insight into the day-to-day operation of a DA’s office and the way prosecutors think about cases.

Following graduation from law school and passing the Bar in 2015, Ellis joined the Davenport Law Office in Morristown, TN. He subsequently opened his own office in Morristown and diligently represented clients in the East Tennessee area, primarily focusing on criminal defense, family law, divorce, and juvenile law.

In 2020, Ellis returned to his hometown of Nashville Tennessee and joined the Law Office of Joshua Miller, P.L.L.C., in June of 2021. Ellis focuses primarily on criminal defense/ DUI, family law/ divorce, and juvenile law. Ellis brings his diligence, dedication, and passion for the law to Maury County and the surrounding counties to ensure that every client receives the attention, service, and representation that they deserve.
